Rush-hour on a December evening, as a Manhattan-bound 7 Local train eases out of 40th Street-Lowery Street Station in Sunnyside, Queens, lights from the surrounding neighborhood reflecting off its silvery flanks.
The red block signal will ensure the next train follows at a safe distance.
From 40th Street in the direction of Manhattan, the trains run down an incline to the next local stop at 33rd Street-Rawson Street.
For most of its route within the NYC borough of Queens, 7 Trains run above city streets on elevated structures such as the one seen here.
