Description
The historic Old Main Line, built by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad between Relay and Point of Rocks, Maryland,
is a single-track line through the Patapsco Valley, with a number of passing sidings to allow trains to operate in both
directions. At Gun Road, on this late afternoon in May, four heavy GE diesel-electric locomotives, led by ES40DC No. 5322, as can be seen from the exhaust, are notching up and digging in with their eastbound freight after awaiting the passage of a westbound train. The "Old Main" is theirs, and they can now continue their journey toward Baltimore.
