That was the heady mix of aromas, along with some excited anticipation at hearing the rhythmic chuff-chuff-chuff of a large steam locomotive and its train approaching my vantage point along a sweeping curve near Hanover, Pennsylvania.
Former Reading T-1 Class 4-8-4 steam locomotive No. 2101 is on the point of a Chessie System Steam Special on a May afternoon in 1977.
