K Tower controls the train activity in the wide throat of Union Station, The dense pattern of high-voltage catenary identifies this complex as the origination point for Amtrak's electrified high-speed Northeast Corridor trains to New York, Boston, and intermediate points. Beyond the catenary, in telephoto-compressed perspective, can be seen some of the new construction in Washington's revitalized NoMa (North of Massachussetts Avenue) area.
