Moraine Lake, at an altitude of 6,181 ft/1885 m in the Canadian Rockies, gets its distinctive turquoise color from the powdery moraine content ("rock flour") of its glacier-fed waters.
Located in the Banff region of the Canadian Rockies near Lake Louise, it is surrounded by the towering Wenchemna Peaks.

Steve Ember is a Washington-based photographer, writer, and voice actor/narrator.
