Description
Well, not quite summer, rather a perfect sunny, low humidity afternoon in late May.
But this image speaks to me of summer, with the leafy canopy of old trees and patterns of dappled sunlight turning the expansive lawn of this old stone house into a carpet of magical patterns.
I liked the relaxed, timeless serenity in this scene, although lots of visitors were around, enjoying the Baltimore Herb Festival in Leakin Park.
The rough-hewn stone of the house was probably quarried nearbyin the Patapsco Valley; it can seen in other old structures in the region.
And are you picking up the fragrance of honeysuckle? Not sure I did when I shot the scene, but that’s OK -- like summer, it’s “there” in the picture. Enjoy a lemonade? And do I hear Eddie Heywood's "Soft Summer Breeze" playing from a Mercury '45' wafting from an open window?
Shot on Fujichrome Provia 400X slide film.
