In the late afternoon sunshine of a summer day, a Manhattan-bound N Train of the New York City Subway system descends the ramp alongside the Queensboro Bridge as it heads for the 60th Street Tunnel under the East River.
The train departed the lower level of the elevated Queensboro Plaza station a few minutes earlier.
